Asset Management for Project Management Certificate
This Certified Technical Specialist in Asset Management course is approved by the World Partners in Asset Management (WPiAM) - CTAM exam included.
Description
Overview
This specially tailored Certified Technical Asset Management (CTAM) course equips project management professionals with the knowledge, tools, and practical skills to apply asset management principles across project planning, design, delivery, commissioning, asset handover, and lifecycle decision-making. Drawing on internationally recognised frameworks such as ISO 55001 and the Global Forum on Maintenance and Asset Management (GFMAM) Asset Management Landscape, this course helps project management professionals bridge the gap between traditional project delivery practices and effective asset management decision-making, supporting successful project outcomes, lifecycle value, risk management, and the achievement of organisational objectives.
Why This Course Matters for Project Management
Project management professionals play a critical role in ensuring projects deliver sustainable value through effective planning, investment decisions, delivery, and asset handover. Yet traditional project management practices often focus on scope, schedule, budget, and project completion rather than whole-of-life asset performance and long-term value.
This course:
-
Translates core asset management principles into project management language and practices that project professionals can readily apply.
-
Explains how project decisions influence asset reliability, maintainability, lifecycle costs, risk, performance, and long-term value.
-
Connects project planning, design, delivery, commissioning, and handover to organisational objectives and ongoing service delivery outcomes.
-
Empowers project management professionals to contribute strategically to asset management decisions, moving beyond traditional project delivery measures of time, cost, and scope.

YOUR INSTRUCTOR

Martin Kerr designed this course after seeing many organisations “overcomplicating” Asset Management, separating it from Engineering, and failing to realise its value.
Martin began his career as a Maintenance Fitter and Machinist. He has front-line operational experience in complex commercial environments and served as CEO of a heavy-maintenance business. He previously served as a global Project Director for an ASX200 company.
Organisations need to realise that, for the most part, they are already doing Asset Management! Even if they don’t know it, organisations without physical assets will gain value by adopting Asset Management principles and increasing their market share.
