Asset Management for Maintainers (CTAM)

This Certified Technical Specialist in Asset Management course is approved by the World Partners in Asset Management (WPiAM) - CTAM exam included.

Description

Overview

This specially tailored version of the Applying Asset Management Certificate (CTAM) course equips maintenance professionals with the knowledge, tools, and practical skills to apply asset management principles directly within maintenance environments. Drawing on internationally recognised frameworks such as ISO 55001 and the Global Forum on Maintenance and Asset Management (GFMAM) Asset Management Landscape & Maintenance Framework, this course helps maintainers bridge the gap between day-to-day maintenance activities and effective asset-centric decision-making.

Why This Course Matters for Maintainers

Every maintainer operates at the frontline of asset performance, reliability, and operational continuity. Yet traditional training often focuses on reactive tasks rather than strategic contribution.

This course:

  • Translates core asset management concepts into maintenance language and practice so maintainers can apply them immediately at work.
  • Explains how maintenance influences asset life cycle value, risk, performance, and cost outcomes.
  • Connects maintenance decision-making to organisational objectives and service delivery outcomes.
  • Empowers maintainers to add strategic value, not just execute work orders.

Why In-house

When we deliver a private (in-house) course, we tailor it to your organisation.

This will include:

  • Organisational Culture
  • Industry Specifics
  • Commercial considerations
  • Asset Owner vs Asset Steward considerations
  • Life Cycle Ownership
  • Address Customer concerns
  • Capability Uplift

Who Should Attend

This course is ideal for maintenance technicians, supervisors, planners, reliability engineers, maintenance coordinators, and team leads who want to:

  • deepen their understanding of how maintenance contributes to value creation across the asset life cycle, and
  • confidently participate in or lead asset management initiatives back in their workplace.

Course Outcomes

Upon completion, maintainers will be able to:

  • Apply core asset management fundamentals to maintenance planning, execution, and improvement.
  • Integrate maintenance activities into an Asset Management System (AMS) aligned to ISO 55001 requirements.
  • Identify and engage key stakeholders in maintenance and operations to ensure alignment of asset decisions with organisational objectives.
  • Use real-world examples and maintenance cases to connect theory to practical outcomes.
  • Support continuous improvement processes through better data, risk understanding, performance measures, and feedback loops

YOUR INSTRUCTOR  (Australia)

Martin Kerr

Martin Kerr designed this course after witnessing many organisations “overcomplicating” Asset Management, separating it from Maintenance and Reliability and failing to realise its value.

Martin began his career as a Maintenance Fitter and Machinist. He has front-line operational experience in complex commercial environments, and served as a CEO overseeing a heavy-maintenance business

Organisations need to realise that, for the most part, they are already doing Asset Management! Even if they don’t know it, organisations without physical assets will gain value by adopting Asset Management principles and increasing their market share.
